The solists of the Maitrise de Notre-Dame invite us on a European journey through the sacred music of the 17th and 18th centuries. Spirituality is expressed in many ways, carried by the eloquence of the voice.

A journey through European Romanticism and Post-Romanticism via the traditions of the French, German, and Russian schools, represented by five geniuses who shared a desire to achieve the most intense emotional expression through new harmonic languages.

More than any other instrument, the organ is all about transmission, with the great masters passing on to their disciples both the instruments they have played and the poetics they have developed. Olivier Latry will use his talent to trace these illustrious and fascinating lines of succession.

Louis Vierne and Marcel Dupré: two illustrious names that will forever mark 20th-century organ music. Both were connected to Notre-Dame de Paris, and both musicians were intimately familiar with Aristide Cavaillé-Coll’s legendary instruments: they mastered their colors, character, dynamics, poetry…

Between shadow and light, this concert offers a meditation on life, death, and the afterlife, subjects that have preoccupied composers since the earliest centuries. Two visions of death will be contrasted: one solemn, the other fantastical and burlesque.

The organ, an instrument of polyphony but also of abundant sound, was long considered an orchestra in its own right. For this concert, Thierry Escaich, musician of many talents, combines creation, improvisation, and interpretation at the highest level, three aspects that are inseparable from his art.

Trained by some of the greatest masters, notably Olivier Latry at the Paris Conservatory, Sarah Kim captivates audiences with a style that is at once virtuosic, sensitive, and rich in tonal color. Having performed at prestigious venues such as Westminster Abbey in London and the Musikverein in Vienna, she is now recognized as one of the most talented organists of her generation.

A winner of several major international improvisation competitions, Baptiste-Florian Marle-Ouvrard explores the most daring combinations of the organ with other forms of artistic expression: dance, visual arts, film, and electronic music. As the titular organist at the Church of Saint-Eustache in Paris, he also performs on major international stages in Europe, the United States, and Japan.
