Children’s Choir

The Preparatory Choir represents the first two years of the Children Choir. It allows children from 3rd to 6th grade to acquire the basics of choral singing and music by following each week 9 to 12 hours of lessons during school time, with the the dual curriculum.

The Children Choir provides high-level comprehensive musical training through the practice of singing. The group, made up of 35 to 40 children, takes classes every week with 10 to 16 hours of lessons during school hours, with the dual curriculum.

During their studies at the Maîtrise, students undergo a complete training including courses in:

• choir,
• individual and collective vocal technique,
• voice training,
• vocal deciphering,
• Gregorian chant,
• musical training,
• history of music.
• Piano lessons are optional, at the families’ expense.

All repertoires are covered, from medieval music to contemporary music, both in secular music and in sacred music: solo singing, choir with equal voices, choir with mixed voices (with the Adult Choir) ).

Children present their work during auditions, cultural actions, by participating in numerous offices in Saint-Germain l’Auxerrois (while awaiting the reopening of the Cathedral) or during concerts in Paris, France and abroad.
