Organ recital: Olivier Latry
Tuesday, November 4, 2025, 8:30 PM
Estimated Run Time: 1 hour
Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris
This program is structured around two main themes. The first is devoted to music from the late 19th century, represented by Alexandre Guilmant, Guy Ropartz, Eugène Gigout (whose centenary is being commemorated this year), and César Franck.
In contrast, we will hear Maurice Duruflé's Suite (who was a student of Gigout at the Conservatoire) and his foray into the impressionism of Claude Debussy. An impressionism mixed with dreaminess: we find these characteristics in Philippe Hersant's Salve Regina, whose music has often resounded under the vaults of Notre-Dame. The second public performance of this work (commissioned by the Festival de Musique Sacrée de Saint-Malo) will establish the link between the two parts of the program.
