Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris

In the 19th century, German choral music flourished magnificently, with most of the great masters of the time composing numerous scores, particularly in the sacred repertoire. Their polyphony combines highly romantic expression with absolute sincerity and fervor, through clear musical settings and striking melodic beauty.
The geniuses of the past were the most obvious source of inspiration: Mendelssohn led the way with the resurrection of the St. Matthew Passion in 1829, and Bach stood out as the alpha and omega of this rich literature, even if no one attempted to match his incomparable counterpoint. Rheinberg also looks to Mozart, while Brahms and Bruckner go even further, drawing on the art of Schütz for the former and Palestrina for the latter. The Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris explores a veritable musical continent brimming with treasures.
