Venetian Mosaic
Cavalli, Monteverdi, Grandi
Tuesday 6 October 2026, 8:30 PM
Estimated Run Time: 1 hour
Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris
n the 17th century, Venice emerged as one of the foremost centres of European musical creation. In the basilicas, churches and institutions of the Serenissima, a new musical language developed, shaped by the rise of solo singing, the pursuit of a more direct expression of the text, and a sensitivity inherited from the early world of opera.
Bringing together works by Monteverdi, Cavalli and Grandi, this programme reveals the richness and diversity of the Venetian sacred repertoire. Intimate motets, Marian devotional works and spiritual meditations showcase an art in which musical eloquence serves the expression of faith. Between contemplative fervour and dramatic intensity, this concert offers a refined panorama of one of the most fertile periods in the history of music.
