Brahms and his German Requiem, a powerful piece to kick off the 50th season of the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées’ Concerts du Dimanche Matin. In a humanist vision, the funeral ode, composed by Brahms in German on texts from Luther’s Bible, delivers words of hope: “Blessed are those who suffer, for they shall be comforted” begins the chorus.

Following the concert given in 2022, the adult choir of the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris returns to the Musicales de l’abbaye du Thoronet. This year, Marcel Pérès and the singers give a program highlighting the continuity between the singing of late Antiquity and the blossoming of singing at Notre-Dame in the 12th century, which then spread throughout Europe and still fascinates us today.
