Fauré, Requiem
Friday, January 12, 2024, 8:00 PM
Louvre Auditorium , Paris (75)
With the National Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Orchestra, the Maîtrise will perform one of the most famous works in the entire sacred music repertoire: Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, in its 1893 version for chamber orchestra.
Heirs to an extraordinary musical heritage, the singers of the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris perpetuate an age-old tradition with a wide range of activities, from accompanying services to concerts involving different groups and generations. A place of teaching and learning, the Maîtrise was profoundly affected by the cathedral fire, and today the Musée du Louvre is delighted to welcome these young musicians and their conductor Henri Chalet in the company of the National Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Orchestra for a program featuring Fauré's famous Requiem in its 1893 version for chamber orchestra, alongside other secular pieces of French music.
