US Tour
Sunday, October 15, 2023, 4:00 PM
The Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, New York (United States)
For the first time in its history, the voices of Notre-Dame de Paris will be heard in the United States, in a series of concerts from New York to Chicago, via Cleveland, Atlanta, Dallas and Huntsville.
The adult choir of the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris, under the direction of Henri Chalet and with Yves Castagnet (titular of the chancel organ of Notre-Dame Cathedral) at the organ, will perform masterpieces of French music including Fauré's Requiem and Poulenc's Litanies à la Vierge Noire.
This concert series, originally scheduled for April 2020, had to be cancelled at short notice because of Covid, which forced all borders to be closed overnight.
From October 15 to 28, 2023, just over a year before the Cathedral's reopening scheduled for December 2024, the Choir of the Cathedral will finally be able to meet the Americans whose love for France and Notre-Dame de Paris was demonstrated the day after the fire by an unprecedented outpouring of generosity. This is an opportunity for the Maîtrise to thank the Americans and bring the voices of Notre-Dame to them.
