Flowers of Paradise – Motets

THE FLOWERS OF PARADISE: A world premiere in homage to Notre-Dame de Paris

On April 15, 2019, Notre-Dame de Paris was on fire. While waiting for the reopening, the Maîtrise must survive and maintain its knowledge.
In order to pay homage to the cathedral, while awaiting its reconstruction, the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris is pleased to invite the Girard quartet for the world premiere of this new work.
The Flowers of Paradise for piano and string quartet, the title evoking the rosettes that remained intact after the disaster, is inspired by the different musical styles that have emerged in this place such as the School of Notre-Dame and Pérotin or the 19th century symphonic organ.
To dialogue with this quartet, the adult choir will resound with great motets of the German romantic repertoire, ranging from Mendelssohn to Brahms, including Bruckner and Rheinberger.

A concert for the benefit of Musique Sacrée à Notre-Dame de Paris with the support of the Académie Musicale de Villecroze.
