Sankta Lucia

Presentation

Saint Lucia (Sankta Lucia in Swedish, but commonly known as Lucia) is a feast celebrated on December 13 in honor of Saint Lucia of Syracuse. It marks the start of the Christmas season with Advent. It was traditionally an important feast throughout Western Christendom, which is celebrated today mostly in Scandinavia and southern Europe, especially in Sweden.
This is therefore an opportunity for the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris to pay tribute and celebrate Sweden and its rich choral repertoire.
Lucie is a first name coming from the Latin lux, lucis, meaning light, and light will be in the spotlight during this evening which will prepare us for the coming of Christmas.
